An alternative to using graph paper and hand-charting your pattern is using an online/software-based knitting pattern/chart generator. One free software-based generator is kpg (knitting pattern generator) for Windows and Linux (sorry, Mac babes!). Download this to your personal computer and chart away. You can output in either HTML or plain text, and you can also upload an image to kpg.
You can clear the symbols in case you make a mistake, and change the different stitch types. You can download the pattern in PNG or GIF format. Also, I like the fact that you can log in with a variety of different accounts, from Google to AOL to Facebook to Twitter to Flickr… and so on. Peter would love you to give him some feedback on this!
Has anybody been able to get KPG
ReplyDeletefrom http://kpg.sourceforge.net/
to work on a Windows 7 platform?
After I download, I try to use 7-zip to extract the file and have had no luck getting an executable file
This link should work: http://sourceforge.net/projects/kpg/files/kpg/0.6/kpg06_setup.exe/download
ReplyDeleteI also am running windows 7. You should not have to unzip it . It is a .exe file. You should be able to just double click it & install:)
