Two-Strand (Long Tail Cast On) or Knitted Cast On

Well I always hated doing the first row with the way that I was casting on so I searched youtube for Two-Strand or Long Tail Cast On. Vary easy to do but I did not know how much yarn to use so of course I got out the Knitting for dummies book & it says the tail should be approx 1 inch for every stitch plus a little extra:)
The dummies video says to measure off 3 times the width of you piece but I would go by 1 one inch method if you do not know what the width of you piece will be:)



Or you can use the slip knot method...



Then there is the Knitted cast on that I thought was easy
