Sleeping Beauty Crochet Aurora Lovey Blanket Tutorial

Blanket:
For the blanket I used Bernat Star Blanket Pattern that you can get here or you can pick another pattern or your choice here.

Just follow the pattern with the colors or your choice & to the size that you want.

Supplies:
Hook - H
Yarn - Red Heart Super Saver Economy Yarn
Sissors
Darning Needle

Head:
I followed this Doll (amigurumi) pattern for the shape of the head by Miki that you can get here.
You can use this pattern or pick a favorite pattern of your choice.

Nose:
For the nose I tried to sculpt it with the same color yarn. You can look @ the video here to get a idea of how you can do this.

Eyes:
For the eyes & lips I just tried to embroider them with yarn. I am going to purchase some of those safety eyes for the next doll I make. You can find a list of sites to buy them on PlanetJune.
I also though about buying an felting needle &try my hand @ felting. You can view an example of needle felting eyes here.

Hair:
For the hair you can pick your method of choice. I just did the latch hook method with my crochet hook. Here are videos to help you choose your method.

Arms:
For the arms I ch 2, Sc 8 sc in 2nd chain from hook. Cont. sc in a spiral until you get to how long you want your arm to be then change to skin tone or color or your choice. Do a few rows then do one sc increase in the next 4 sc. You should have 12 sc now. sc next two rows.

Thumb: This is done with the same idea as making a mitten. If you have never maid a mitten be for you can check out the videos here

So basically you want 8 sc for the hand part & leave 4 sc unworked for the thumb. You are still working in the spiral round. Cont. hand until you get the length you want then fasten off leaving tail for sewing up fill with material of your choice.

Now cont. with the thumb. Sc in the next 4 sc & pick up 2 sc on the side of the hand. Cont. in the spiral round for your desired size of your thumb. Finish off leaving a tail for sewing.

Crown Applique:
Now I needed a crown. I was going to follow this pattern but it turned out way too big so I made modifications to make a smaller one that would work for the doll.

Here is my modified pattern for the crown:

Ch 13.
1st Row: Work 1 sc into 2nd ch from hook, work 1 sc into ea ch across, ch 1 turn.
2th Row: Sl st across first 2 sts, * ch 3, miss 1 st, work 1 sc into next st, rep from * 3 times, sl st across remaining last 2 sts, turn.
3th Row: Ch 6, work 1 sc into ch-3 loop, ch 4, work 1 sc into next ch-3 loop, ch 6, work 1 sc into next ch-3 loop, ch 4, work 1 sc into next ch-3 loop, ch 6, sl st into last st, turn.
4th Row: Work 6 sc into ch-6 loop, work 4 sc into ch-4 loop, work 4 sc, ch 3, 4 sc into ch-6 loop, work 4 sc into ch-4 loop, work 6 sc into ch-6 loop.
Fasten off.

I would of preferred a gold color for the crown but I had to work with what I had. I was thinking on making a pink crown with the darker shade of pink as well.

Sew all your parts together & tie in you ends & your done :)
